There was a big issue here at the time over the initiative title which originally reflected what the initiative would have actually done - define marriage in the state as a union between a man and a woman - and instead was changed to the blatantly false title ""Eliminates Rights of Same-Sex Couples to Marry" by then Attorney General Moonbeam.
At the time of the Prop 8 vote, same-sex couples did have the right to civilly marry. Prop 8 eliminated that right. What you describe as "blatantly false" was 100% true and accurate.

People who voted to preserve marriage as it is defined were aware of the original title, dismissed the ridiculous title insisted by the gay army, and voted consciously to uphold marriage as a union between a man and a woman in California before their clear will was ignored and unconstitutionally overturned by an openly gay man in a black robe.
I'm sure most anti-gay bigots who wanted to take marriage rights away from gay couples knew what Prop 8 was and that they needed to vote "yes" on it in order to do so. I'm referencing the more casual voter who heard in the media that Prop 8 was the Gay Marriage Proposition, intended to vote yes for gay marriage, and voted yes on Prop 8 thinking they were voting yes on gay marriage.
It's not my theory. I stole it from Judith Sheindlin (Judge Judy). I watched an interview in which she stated her opinion that Prop 8 passed for this very reason. She thought that had it been written in such a way so that a yes vote meant yes to gay marriage, and a no vote meant no to gay marriage, the results would have been the opposite.

No, they did not.
Harrier is very curious as to why you think so, because if you do it demonstrates a very poor understanding of the issue in California.
Harrier could tell you what really went down, but he would like to hear from you first why you believe that homosexuals ever were legally allowed to marry in California prior to the openly gay man in a black robe's unconstitutional decision and the Supreme Court's legally sound but effectively wrong opinion that allowed the openly gay man in a black robe's unconstitutional decision to stand.
Harrier would also like to know where you got your information, so he can denounce the source as spreading misinformation.
The fact is that marriage had always been a union between a man and a woman in California until very recently, a fact that was affirmed by the clear will of the people of California twice, and no bill issuing from the legislature allowing homosexual marriage has ever been signed into law.
The people of California even amended their own constitution to define marriage as a union between a man and a woman.
The only thing that changed that was the unconstitutional decision of an openly gay man in a black robe that overruled the clear will of the people of California that marriage in this state is a union between a man and a woman.
The straw poll at CPAC showed that 62% of voters thought that marijuana should be legalized in some way.
First its DADT, then gay marriage, and now its marijuana. Whats happening to the Republican base? On the other hand we read recently one out of three Medicare recipients has three or more prescriptions for pain killers so it figures. No wonder they love Limbaugh, they can relate.

Tomorrow is a school day, you better do your homework and get to bed...
Sorry but those were just the fact from recent poll. Cpac 62% favor reform of marijuana laws including legalization and up to 35% of Medicare recipients on multiple pain killers. By the way the government pays for the pain killers.

No so crusty and no hoverounds there.

Yep, stopping an insane war on citizens, and especially blacks, makes everyone with any sense a doper.
Thanks for proving your ignorance better than anyone could have in the history of the world.

YOU are the amazing one to us, believe me. Common sense has been lost to your ilk. You know the history of prohibition, and know the war on drugs is contrived by Big Pharma and chemical interests, yet you choose to ignore it completely. You are only interested in taking shots at conservatives, and you look foolish for it.
70% of the country wants the war on drugs stopped. Colorado and Oregon ARE DEMOCRAT STATES, yet you make this a Republican/Libertarian issue. It doesn't get anymore ignorant than this folks.

So what you are saying is the Tea Party types always have been dopers except they were hypocrites in the past. Who built all the prisons and made up all the laws and the mandatory sentences?
