Do we need a museum to remember 9/11? -- Yes

But does anyone else think that it should cost $50 - $60 million dollars a year to operate?

And BTW, it will cost $20 to $25 dollars per person to enter this museum.

Quote:
With prodding from Sens. Charles Schumer (D) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D), a bill was introduced in Congress yesterday to provide $20 million a year in operating funds to the museum. That would be enough to cover at least one-third of its estimated $50 million to $60 million in yearly expenses once it opens on Sept. 11, 2012.
Seems some Democrats still think taxpayer money is endless...

No I don't think we need an entire museum devoted to one single event.

While I think it is a pretty big waste of money, I'm willing to bet that a significant portion of it is security related.

They got the Memorial built with a lot of private donations (and some public money), so let's see if they can get private corporations to continue to support it as well.

Most visitors to the Museum will be out-of-town tourists, whose dollars will be spent all over New York City during their visits. $20 million is pocket change to the hotel and tourism industry in New York.

So why isn't NYC subsidizing this museum if it's going to be such a money maker??

Americans get screwed again....

There's one in Hawaii dedicated to Pearl Harbor, there's the Gettysburg Battlefield & Museum which I visted two weeks ago.

I haven't visited the USS Arizona @ Pearl Harbor yet, but I will tell you that the Gettysburg Battlefield and Museum is one of the most educational memorial/exhibits I have ever experienced.

I don't know, ask them. I was going for the private industry donations, but the city could do it and tack on another tax to the industry, I suppose.

Yes, Gettysburg is great. I haven't been there for many years, but I'd like to go back.
