Conservatives join liberals in opposing Obama's payroll tax cut extension - TheHill.com

Obama wants to cut payroll taxes down to 3.1% for both employers & employees. This will help the middle class like nothing we've ever seen before...yet conservatives and some liberals are mysteriously opposed to it. Could it be that this legislation doesn't help the ultra rich which is the reason for resistance? The Tea Partys supposed to be about the middle class, you bozos.

No. It drains Social Security by making it more insolvent. THAT is why this should be fought. If it were to be passed, I hope the savings is paid to current EMPLOYEES to give us a raise rather than use the savings to hire people that are not needed.

While the moves add to the deficit, the administration has said the trust fund would not be affected because the money would be shifted from the general fund and because the change is temporary.

They also said that the Social Security money would be put away in a lock box but that didn't turn out to be true either. Though anyone that really knows that Social Security was not, is not, and will never be intended as a government retirement program. That, along with the federal income tax, is what is called the "Full Faith and Credit of the United States" to the privately owned Third Bank of the United States aka the Federal Reserve

obamas "jobs bill" is relying on targeted tax cuts, that are temporary in nature, and other gimmicks that are basically smoke and mirrors. but lets say these tax cuts go into effect, including the tax benefits for employers, what happens when these cuts expire next year? how many of these full time employees that were hired will still have jobs? the answer is very few. the reality is though that these cuts will not create jobs because they are modest cuts at best, are temporary in nature, and they dont address the REAL underlying problems facing the economy.

and dont forget that obama isnt going to cut any regulations, in fact his administration is going add even more, which will only hurt the jobs market further.

so tell me what is so good about a small tax deduction and a small temporary tax cut, if the regulations that are being added cost more than 5 times the amount of the benefits the "jobs bill" provides? just how stupid do you think business owners are?

Well, it makes for good talking points for the obedient little Obamabots to parrot in the media and elsewhere. I made a similar analogy before. Let's say the Democrats want to pass a Defense Appropriations bill and they have an amendment that says Medicare funding will be reduced to zero. The Republicans vote the bill down and the Democrats and their zombie followers will come out and say "See! Look! The Republicans hate the troops!" and that is exactly what they are doing right now with these small temporary tax cuts and, right on cue, the Obama zombies respond accordingly

Yes, you will get a raise. Look at your Social Security tax paid from last year and cut it in half . now add that to each paycheck. $$$ ... also helps your employer.

Although SS has been looted in the past, it's hard to deny that this legislation specifically targets helping the middle class as a whole. What's scary is how many in Congress are showing their hate for this...now all of a sudden they're worried about tax cuts creating deficits .

2 Reps so far I will vote against in the future, if ever given the op:
Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Tex.)
Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga.)
more to come...

The previous payroll tax cut failed to stimulate the economy and the Obama administration is suggesting to just do more of the same failed policies? I'm shocked, just shocked!

Could it be that this legislation will steal even more revenue from an already financially troubled Social Security program (which will help the elderly)? Or, is the OP in the "push Granny over the cliff" camp?

The Tea Party is about fiscal responsibility. There is nothing fiscally responsible about robbing Peter to pay Paul just to get Paul's vote (which is exactly what this legislation is aimed to accomplish).

I forgot to mention that no American has a right to the SS money they contributed, it can be denied to you even if you have paid into it since you were 16 or younger.
