In Benton Township, Michigan, two armed robbers wearing masks burst into a near-deserted Walgreens at 4:30 a.m. To pharmacist Jeremy Hoven, it was a prescription for trouble. So he filled it with hot lead.
A video, newly released by Hoven's attorneys, shows how events unfolded.
It appears that Walgreen's robbery policy is similar to quik stop market policy. Do not take any action against the robbery for the sake of other customers and employees. Seems to be a good policy as there are survelience cameras everywhere in the store and the police will handle it after the fact. The robbers came for drugs, not for murder. Walgreens is in it's right to demand compliance in this matter. Although it will grate on all the Rambo's of the world, He got fired for being a loose cannon.
It's a shame he didn't hit one or both of the criminals. I think he did the right thing but the company has the right to fire him if they want to. But they should be willing to pay him for wrongful termination at least for a few years salary.
Criminals are very brazen when they don't expect resistance. Put up a show of equal force and they'll run away or not even try to assault you if they think there's the real potential of danger to themselves.
He should have been given a reward for protecting Walgreen's property. Firing someone for defending their life is simply wrong. Shooting at someone attempting to rob you is right.
He makes 150K a year as a pharmacist? I didn't know they paid out like that at convenience stores.
