I don't get this the title of this thread. Texas never asked to secede and was never denied. Rick Perry making a statement about seceding is not an attempt made by Texas to secede.

The OP doesn't like Rick Perry. That's the reason behind this thread.

Yep, make up something and then criticize those you don't like for something you created, typical leftist behavior and strategy.

I wish people would stop acting like our deranged politicians speak for the whole state. Most Texans have no desire to secede whatsoever. You're stuck with us.

Good point. This asinine post about Texas is ridiculous. It is funny how some people think that their state is more important than others. Ignorance is hard to overcome at times.

No No, you should learn your own history.

Texas was a Mexican colony/province.

The Mexican government allowed white farmers/slave holders from America [mostly the South] to move in and settle.

Those Southerners became restless with the Mexican government, and they were American anyway.

They started a jerk-off revolution-"Remember the Alamo"

Somehow Tejas won.

Governing yourselves became difficult.

A few years later, Texas was annexed to the United States.

An excellent summary of Texas history. You must be a history professor. Very good command of the facts.

Some one needs to remember the Alamo.
