A college student from New York was paid between $1,500 and $2,500 to stand in for at least a half dozen students attending a prestigious Long Island high school and take the SAT exam for them, a prosecutor said Tuesday in announcing criminal charges in the case.

Six students were also arrested Tuesday on misdemeanor charges, although authorities said the investigation remained active and that other high school students in the area may also have been involved. The six were all released on their own recognizance.

I happen to know a person who also paid for herself to have others take her online courses and another person to take the SAT for her so she could secure a scholarship in College...

The system should change a.s.a.p. so things like this won't be possible.

Calling for meaningful ID checks and ensuring that the people taking the test are who they say they are would discriminate against those without ID or the pooor and disenfrnachised. Or perhaps the mentally challenged. Racist. Republican.

No, this is lazy political correctness. I bet they didn't want to check ID's of the students before the test because they were afraid that they would be demonized for discriminating against those who don't have valid ID.

Even if they check they probably just look at it less than a second and let the person walk in the testing room...and what about the fake ID's.
