Is it all political propaganda, so they don't totally lose their base?

The monthly unemployment rate report turned out by the BLS How the Government Measures Unemployment defines unemployment as those currently without a job who have actively looked for work in the prior 4 weeks, and are currently available for work.

This definition conveniently excludes from the definition of unemployed those who have grown so discouraged that they are only marginally looking for work, as well as those who are considered under-employed because they have been forced to accept part-time or lower paying full-time employment because no other jobs are available.

Real Unemployment in March 2011 was 22.0 Percent, Not 8.8 Percent - (http://jeromecorsi.com/article.php?id=71 - broken link)

This was 6 months ago, with over 400,000 filing monthly and 0 recovery to talk about.

Could it seriously be over 25% nationwide? Pockets of places in Michigan and Illinois, have 65-75% unemployment?????

Yes. Something the MSM - none of them - are able to honestly and factually report.

"If we don't tell them that their neighbors are losing their homes, that there's no jobs, that people are packing their meager possessions in their cars and moving hundreds of miles because there 'might' be a job somewhere, or are living in tent cities in public parks all across the nation, they won't even think of the word, "depression". Don't breathe it, don't whisper it, don't even think it!" - seems to be their attitude.

How were numbers calculated in the 1930's?

Any comparison to today?

The numbers are calculated by this administration to make itself look as good as possible without admitting that they do nothing but lie about the situation.

Same as they do in most of their other endeavors.

It is just that those pesky truths seem to find a way to slip out, in spite of the MSM.

One must assume everything our government tells us is a lie.

The numbers are calculated the same way as they have been for over 50 years. If they don't reflect what you want them to reflect, just watch Beck or listen to Rush or whatever, where you can see and hear what you want. Thus you can feel vindicated in your confusion.

Who counts and who doesn't has been changed and tweeked by the government so much that comparisons are worthless.

It would be like comparing a grapefruit (1930's) to a kiwi (today) ...so many groups of unemployed people have been defined out of existence.

In 1994 the BLS dropped long term discouraged workers still unemployed..they didn't count anymore.

How is that a true picture of unemployment when the government decides which group of unemployed they count ? If you used to have a job and now you don't and can't get a job you are unemployed and should be counted by the government as unemployed whether it's for 3 weeks or 3 years.

Thanks for the expected delusional participation.

It's because we're soft.

The current policies of this regime have nothing to do with it.
