I find the whole "voting against your own best interest" argument to be one of the more vile and condescending positions that people like to take. I know what is best for me, you, or some other bunch of folks have no idea....kind of like how our federal government likes to tell us that they know whats best for us. I'm sure a small % of the US population needs someone to tell them whats best for them, because in any society you have some people who unfortunately don't have the means or mental capacity to care for them self.
These people aren't "looking out for me." I'm quite capable of doing that for myself. In fact some of the ridiculous things they are fighting for are counter intuitive to what is good for everyone. Making up some random fixed salary/wage is one of their causes that will lead to more economic problems...as are the other things I've heard them spouting off about like "free education" by absolving student loan debt, and making school free. Again, all disasterous to the economy.
I don't want these people "looking out for me" because they have no concept of how the world and the economy should function. Its not to say that those in charge now are all that much better, but these self-proclaimed 99% who have a limited understanding of the things they are fighting for and who have radical and extreme socialist ideas do NOT represent anywhere near 99% of the general hard working people of this country who deal in logic and reality.
When you destroy private property you are a "mob". The TEA party cleans up after itself and LEAVES when their protest is over.
Exactly, these clowns trashed a McDonald's restaurant and used the bathroom sink for bathing, ripping it out of the wall. That's not something the TEA Party would do. TEA Partyers respect private property and businesses.
This IS a mob ... and it's approaching time for them to disperse and go back to college, work, Starbucks (or whatever random Hipsterish cafe in Williamsburg they came from), or their parents basement. These clowns are nothing but a bunch of useful idiots (aka naive & brainwashed college students), bored Hispters who watched "V for Vandetta" a few times too many, aging hippies stuck in the '60s, Anarchists, labor union thugs, and the usual Marxist and Socialist agitators.
No one should expect anything better from a corporate bootlicker like Cantor. He's probably just reading a prepared text directed to him from K St lobbyists.
He's a good boy. He'll do as he's told by his masters.
I love how the media/Left are trying to portray this manufactured "movement" as equal to the TP uprising, that led to the historic election of 2010.
Not even CLOSE.
Quote:
The crowd was relatively small at about 300, and included educated but unemployed workers, college students and recent graduates, homeless drifters, performance artists, 9/11 truthers, and a not-insignificant number of journalists.
Where in the world did you get THAT quote? Is that what Faux is reporting these days? Try THOUSANDS on Wall Street and something like 826 other cities/groups linked into the movement so far.
I have been reading accounts of the movement spreading to Philadelphia, Seattle, Portland, Denver, etc., etc.
As usual, the Tea Party crowd has incredible difficulty getting their facts straight.
Sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting nonsense won't make reality go away.
If they were really non partisan they would be rallying against Obama and the dems for being as corrupt as the repubs they single out and who the dems refuse to do anything against the war on drugs, and illegal hiring and military action that Obama supports.
I support certain aspects of those protesting against corruption but I cringe when I see socialist fringes with signs demanding socialism.
I think what Cain is failing to consider is that most people lack the intelligence and ability to fend for themselves in a bad economy. Sure, there are some very talented, smart, capable people out of work; however, the vast majority of people who need outside help just to be fed and housed have always been at the very bottom. They are incapable of functioning at the level required to succeed in today's economy. They will never rise to the top, nor even the middle, no matter what the economy or stock market is doing. When the bottom falls out, they're the first to drop. Wall Streeet doesn't care, nor does Congress, nor large corporations. Call it socialism if you want, but I believe in helping the most vulnerable. Cain chooses not to acknowledge that the people at the bottom have no choice.
I think the liberals really hope the Occupy whatever is going to mean or do something significant.... it's not.... but I think its funny that someone thinks that...
