So much for the party of tolerance.

In U.S., 22% Are Hesitant to Support a Mormon in 2012

"The new Gallup poll, conducted June 9-12, finds nearly 20% of Republicans and independents saying they would not support a Mormon for president. That is slightly lower than the 27% of Democrats saying the same."

Inside the numbers, 18% of Republicans would not vote for a Mormon, 27% of Dems would not vote for a Mormon.

Quite an indictment!

Per your own link:

The question is mainly relevant to the Republican and independent vote in 2012, given that the current Republican front-runner, Mitt Romney, is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly known as the Mormon church, and that another Mormon, former Utah Gov. and former Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman, may enter the race for the GOP nomination as early as next week.

Quite an indictment!
Not really 18% of GOPers admit to the same.

And only the GOP has a mormon candidate who's a complete idiot.

This obviously distorts the results.....Come back when the Dems have a Mormon candidate.

So 27% of democrats are intolerant because they would be hesitant to support a Mormon...

...but the 20% of Republicans that are hesitant to support a Mormon are not intolerant why?

You do see why that statement would be just a smidge hypocritical don't you?

I hesitate to go into the very small number of Mormon candidates, that only appear on the GOP ticket and state anything Liberal Democrat is evil.

You know how easy it is to get votes from a population when your point is an ad hominem attack, right?

Let's poll Democrats and Republicans about electing a Muslim candidate. Something tells me you would not make a thread for those results.

I hate the idea of using a 9% difference to try and make one party sound better than another, but keep in mind that Mormons are fairly traditional, which is a conservative trait, which is a position held by republicans. So, the way I see it, you're trying to knock on democrats for not voting republican.

Too funny, the Dems don't even have a Mormon candidate, and a full 27% say they wouldn't vote for one if they did. Truly the party of intolerance!

Oh yes, which Mormon Republican Presidential candidate is a complete moron? The one who worked for Obama or the one who didn't? I know this is a hard question for Dems given their dislike of Mormons.

Nope, knocking Dems for their intolerance simply because of a persons religion. The difference between Dems and Independents and Republicans, is startling.

Well of course you are wrong from the start, it is only 18% of Republicans who would be hesitant to support a Mormon.

The question was if your party nominated a Mormon. As you can see it is something Dems should be deeply ashamed of. A little introspection is in order.

My guess is , Dems would be equally intolerant of Muslims as they are of Mormons. They are reflexively anti religious beliefs.

There's a difference between being against religion, and being against religion mixing with the government.

I don't have a problem with religious candidates.

I do have a problem with candidates depending on their religion for their political viewpoints.
