Radioactive Exports from Japan: Should there be a major discount on all products from Japan when sold in the USA? (economy, elect)

So you're going to support buying products from Japan and risk being poisoned?
A new car would probably be loaded with higher levels of radiation.
There's no cap date in sight for ending this disaster.
Maybe we should consider banning all products entry.
They banned sales of U.S. Beef in Japan.
I'd say the health risk is more detrimental to American health in the long run to allow imports which could be contaminated, what's worse is that it's being carried by the wind and water why raise the risk by allowing imports.
Do you think the U.S. government will take care to inform the public if there is a higher risk of contamination from buying products imported from Japan? Or will they attempt to keep the public at bay by not disclosing all the information they have?

Any products coming into the US must be safe. If they aren't, they should be sent back or made safe before they are allowed to enter the market.
How is a price reduction going to affect product safety?

If any product is reported with unsafe levels of radiation it should not be sold here. However, things will slip through the cracks in the interest of keeping an economy from tanking.
If a product doesn't sell because it's from Japan and consumers are concerned about contamination, there may be a reason to reduce the price of imported products from Japan.
Auto parts imported from Japan are becoming hard to find because of the nuclear disaster. They will raise prices on those parts because they are scarce, or they'll find a way to produce those parts in the U.S.A. Would you put parts in your auto that came from a region that has been contaminated with radiation?
Given a choice, I'd rather buy Japanese made products. Almost everything these days is made in communist China by slave labor. Japan is a first world country with a demographically elected government.
We need to be more supportive of Japan and encourage them to produce more.

Buying anything from Japan now would be like buying poisoned products from China. I can't support buying anything from Japan that could be contaminated with elevated levels of radiation beyond something I would get from sitting 6 inches away from my plasma screen television.
And just how does this Discount of all products, coming in from Japan, protect us from Radiation, that may already be on it's way here. A discount in no way is going to help us from safety issues.

As I said a few posts above it would motivate people to buy products that come from Japan.
There are cargo loads arriving at the Port of Los Angeles with elevated radiation levels. Those products have been contaminated.
Whether or not the contamination is temporary or long term and can poison the environment or people is not known.
People will probably not purchase them if they think they've been contaminated by radiation. They'll have to discount them in order to spur people to buy them.
