Please! Regulating the media? Forget it. Reeks of totalitarianism.

If if makes you feel better, I think some of the majors are derelict in duty with their coverage of Obama. They will NOT ask him tough questions. They adore him and should not be covering him.

But is the government going to regulate them- i.e. Obama's people make them be toughter on Obama? No and nor should they. People should see through it. People have brains. Use them already.

Besides, in this day and age of digital communications, is there really a Major Media anymore?

Seems you do not so much have a problem with the media as you do with people disagreeing with you.
Actually it was due to the Source of the information not the forgery. If that being the case why was'nt there a followup? A good example is the birthiers, they got answer that they were not satisfied with, but took it as far as they could until it died. The Bush/military thing was stopped as soon as folks lost their jobs. When your family has that much power the media is their puppet.

As far as your assumption that I have a probelm with people that do not share my views.......please! I really enjoy a good debate and if you have noticed if I'm wrong I will admit it

It's a problem, when you consider how much in bed big Corps are with big gov't. However, I think it's a problem that will fix itself if left alone. With the internet it will matter less and less, especially as people figure out how to make money from internet journalism, and bloggers will have more resources to do the kind of reporting and investigation that newspaper reporters used to do. Right now I think we're somewhat in limbo because the newspapers are dying, and the internet is still underage.

I would disagree that we need a state owned media center. That would be kind of like Pravda. Instead we should restrict mergers both vertical and horizontal so that there is not just a few sources of news. The more sources of information the better and the more difficult for Corporate America to control.
