The bottom line is that scumbags are 100% into the business because it's easy money and they are generally too stupid to make an honest living.

So, your assumption is that the cartel's would just disband and start farming, working in factories and what not?

Heh, not going to happen. They will merely shift to other illegal endeavors like car theft, kidnapping, extortion and so forth. I'm not saying that legalizing some drugs is a bad thing, just explaining how legalization isn't going to remove the cartels....perhaps weaken them a bit.
Drugs are easy money. Drugs are also by far their top source of income and power. It will deal an incredible blow to the cartel. See what happened to the mafia when alcohol prohibition ended for an example.

No; that would appear to be your (straw man) assumption.

Whatever they might or might not do isn't the question...
the question is about the utter stupidity of perpetuating the current model.

Care to offer some actually constructive comment?

Name a president in recent memory that's been tougher.

You can't. But you'll keep saying this nonsense.

HAHAAHAHHA!! That's the funniest thing I've heard all day. Obama has stopped deportations, he's created another work visa, and is keeping the border very open to anyone who wants to come on over.

He's going hard after states like Arizona and Alabama that are trying to have immigration laws enforced and what's more -- rabid pro-unlimited illegal immigration posters like yourself wouldn't worship Obama if he were really enforcing immigration laws.

The cartels are most definitely gaining a foothold in the USA and Obama is making it very easy for them. The cartels control every aspect of border crime and smuggling. The cartels control the human trafficking, the stolen identification documents that are sold in border towns, they control the stolen vehicle business that is huge all along the border. They control the prostitution, the child sex slavery, the drugs, the kidnapping for ransom, the carjackings and the chop shops.

The cartels consist of very wealthy families, they have the money to move over to the USA easily and they are doing so in very large numbers, the USA is now protecting cartel families who fear violence will befall them in their own country.

I guess analogies are not your strong point.

I'm basically saying that even if its true, its like being the best out of a group that is particularly bad as a whole, it doesn't make you good, it just makes you better than a bunch of others that are not good.

Actually enforcement on the border has doubled under Obama, as have deportations. I think the problem may be the billions Americans spend on illegal drugs annually.

Mexican children are also expendable to the cartels. They have zero respect for life.

I seriously doubt you consider the kids being used by the cartels as your kids.

I'm sure the anti immigration crowd really cares about Mexican children.

What makes children more precious than older people?
Aren't all people just as important and precious as each other?
At what age does the value of a person change?

I'm interested in your perspective on this.

And we never had border problems until 20 Jan 2009.
I understand where you're coming from.
