I wonder if folks on food stamps get a bonus for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Probably can't buy marshmallows on food stamps
I also wonder if in France and Italy you can buy wine with food stamps.
You can get marshmallows on food stamps in North Carolina. I don't know about other states.
Why are we judging people who are in a rough patch? I don't understand. The "lifers" are in the minority. Most food stamp users are only on FS for 6 months to a year.
I know this is a troll thread, but did you know that for every $1.00 of government spending on Food Stamps $1.73 is generated through the economy. It's one of the most efficient social welfare programs we have.
Great then, lets put ALL AMERICANS on Food Stamps, it would be a better use of our federal tax revenue than all those make work military programs!
Mr. Mon, please post a source that backs up your statement and Nancy Pelosi's comments don't count.
If Mr. Mon is correct then Workaholic has just solved our recession problem.
In my opinion, if you are genuinely needy and have trouble being able to afford food, then food stamps are a good thing to help these unfortunate poverty-stricken people.
On the other hand, I believe there are many people who are scamming the system and obtaining this benefit even though they aren't eligible. I know this is one single anecdotal incident, but once I was on the check out line at a supermarket and a young fashionably dressed woman with a designer handbag and wearing real jewelry (I can tell, I'm in that business) whipped out her "Access Card" (food stamps here in PA) and purchased about $150 in groceries.
To me it has nothing to do with Mississippi or Ohio, liberal or conservative ...
I feel it has to do with providing food to those who really are needy, and rejecting those who figure out a way to free load.

I think we have enough "soup kitchens" in this country to feed the truly needy that are hungry. I doubt we even really need food stamps. If somebody's desperate for food, that would motivate them to get off their asses and get to a soup kitchen or work. Besides, it'd be good for them and their kids if they have them to get out of their comfort zones and around other people. In all reality, we could do without food stamps in this country. We really could. Even our welfare in this country is luxurious. After all, we are a mighty wealthy country and everybody, to the least well off bum begging on the street, benefits from this. Welfare is just enabling and grooms/breeds a welfare class and makes it an option for the super lazy.
You do realize that not every person in MS is a conservative, right?
Did anyone make that claim. Strawman cometh.
