Another thread falling into the liberal vs conservative argument! I have to challenge that. According to my college aged daughter, I am rather conservative. (Yeah, she's right... I just love her validation of that fact!)

However, common sense tells me that a non-criminal, presentable, competent woman being in a school reading an age-appropriate book to the children just really isn't a big deal. Geesh!

Or, does that make me a liberal now?

It would be nice to know how many posters here have taken time out of their lives to go to a school and read a book to the students...

Of course these same posters have led stellar innocent lives, never having done anything in their past that others would consider indecent...

You're worried about homosexuals being allowed to teach children? How 1970s. Even Reagan was against the Briggs Initiative which would have banned gays from teaching in California back then. Of course, Reagan would be considered a liberal nowadays.

what's the big deal? I look at the picture and see a properly dressed young woman reading an age appropriate book to a classroom. No gigantic G sized boobs, so excessive cleavage, no stripper heels. she's trying to get into mainstream movies and leave the pron past behind apparently. I don't see what the uproar is about.

what's the difference between her and Kim K? or Paris Hilton. Hell, let's be frank, more people have probably seen Vanessa Hudgens naked than Sasha Grey, yet parents would probably welcome her to thee classroom b/c she's that High School Musical girl.

unless you watch a ton of porn and/or follow Sasha Grey's porn career closely, she's just another young woman looking to give back to the community by promoting literacy among children

It is amazing that everything is blamed on the president. Like you said "who cares" never mind the point is that she is trying to get the kids to read more. Truthfully, if someone came to class dressed as a ***** and the kids started reading I would not give a damn!

"Do you like your schools in Texas?"
Do you even know how under staffed our schools are here thanks to Perry? How poorly our students score on national tests?

George Bush actually invested a lot in the Texas schools and made great improvements. Unfortunately, he learned the hard way that what is successful at the state level is not always easily transferable to the national level, which resulted in the failure of No Child Left Behind. Perry undid all those improvements and actually made our schools one of the lowest ranking education systems in the US. So no, I am not happy with our schools in Texas.

I would rather have a literate former porn star read children's stories to my kids than an ignorant Cowboy wanna-be reading them stories about how Jesus rode a Dinosaur.

So if we're going to freak out about a woman who HAD DIRTY EVIL SECKS reading books to kids, then we better go back to the days where only virginal nuns taught children.

Big deal. She wasn't there to give her autobiography, she wasn't there to take her clothes off, she wasn't there to give the kids a graphic description of each and every adult movie she was in and teach them how to give a hummer. She read a book to them. And if you're going to flip your lid about kids being read to, you really need some bigger problems to worry about. Do you give a background check to everyone who reads your kids a book? Do you ask that nice librarian if she's into S&M? Do you ask the bookstore employee who's running storytime if he likes being spanked? Because I guarantee you that librarian and that bookstore employee aren't sharing their sexual kinks with the kids while they're helping to foster a love of reading, and neither was this woman.

I suggest the only those born without sex organs and have absolutely no interest in sex whatsoever be the only people who read to kids.

You might suggest that the schools only recruit virgins, but that is worse than hiring a former porn star. Because a former porn star has most likely toned down their sex life at that point, but a virgin can only go up in sexual activity. Even those porn stars were virgins at one point. So think about how those kids that only exist in my own head would feel if they found out that the person who once read to them has no engaged in sexual intercourse (possibly to make future students at that school)?

So write your elected officials and demand that only androgynous humans without genitals read to children.
