I'm just wondering if there is a single conservative who thinks George W. Bush, Richard Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld were telling the truth about the rationale for invading Iraq.

Either they were grossly negligent in believing concocted intelligence, or they lied to the American people and the world when they declared that Saddam Hussein had to be removed from power, and U.S. troops had to occupy his country.

I didn't believe them in 2003, and even though many democrats also lied or were complicit, there is a definitive difference between someone saying Iran is a potential threat, and President Obama ordering a full scale invasion of Iran. Talk, especially from politicians, is cheap.

I wonder what you tell the mothers of kids who were killed or maimed in Iraq, do you tell them they died for a lie, and that those who ordered them there are war criminals? That would be the honest answer.

I heard Condi on the radio a week ago. She convinced me that she really believed that Saddam had WMDs. I'm sure Cheney and the crooks had a big laugh about that -- even snowed the colored lady, ha ha. Condi had the integrity to say they were wrong. They acted on bad intel. At the end of the day, I can respect that. May Cheney and the book cookers rot in hell, but I can forgive an honest mistake.

The U.S. had been suspicious for months, partly because of Osama bin Laden's financial ties, but also because of strong connections to Iraq. Sources say the U.S. had intercepted phone calls from the plant to a man in Iraq who runs that country's chemical weapons program.

both parties are to blame.

both parties are ignorant.

people who defend either are even more ignorant.

This response can be placed in every single thread on this forum and not lose an ounce of validity.

there was credible intel from around the world about saddams WMD programs. enough for the intelligence community in this country to sit up and take notice. not only us, but the british, the russias, israelis, saudis, jordanians, and many other intelligence agencies all were talking about saddams WMD programs.

but WMDs were not the only reason to invade iraq in 2003, remember that there was NO peace treaty signed between iraq and the coalition forces at the end of the 1991 gulf war, only a cease fire agreement which saddam consistently violated.

and then there is the iraqi freedom act signed by president clinton that required the US to work for regime change in iraq, which means that bush was following the LAW by invading iraq to force a regime change there.

and there were many democrats that used the SAME intelligence that bush used, and made the SAME claims about saddams WMD programs that bush did, AS MUCH AS TWO YEARS BEFORE BUSH WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT. these democrats included bill and hillary clinton, albright, gephardt, kerry, biden, gore, and many others. and the democrats pretty much fully supported the use of force in iraq.
