Weird. I remember years ago when a teenage boy hid in one of the "towers" of a slide at a local park and when a little girl climbed up he touched her innapropriately. The girl called to her mom and the kid climbed down and ran away. This was in the middle of the day too.

I also remember hiding in similar towers when I was a teen, late at night, to makeout and get drunk. No kids involved!!

There are those sandbox areas full of those plastic balls...a climbing thing to get to a tower, a 2nd story level and covered tube slides. Many covered with tarps and netting to keep the kids IN and not fall through. Yeah..I can see where this could happen out of sight of a parent/guardian sitting right there. One way in and one way out of those playscapes.

It USED to be considered very safe.
I know exactly what you're saying, but still, you'd think the poor kid would scream.

No problemo. My point is that things happen in kids play areas. Worse than what I did that's for sure. And maybe this boy was "hiding" somewhere? A tunnel? Who knows, not enough info.

Perhaps he prevented the little girl from screaming.

Knocking her out or covering her mouth?

He committed an adult crime. I think he should be tried as an adult. No finer justice than him to serve time as a prisoners *****.

There is no such thing as an "overprotective" parent.
There is such a thing, and parenting for the worst possible outcome leads to children being stuck in doors, without social skills, and can lead to added lunacy as demonstrated by the teen in question.

I'm sorry when my kids were small, things were not bad as they now are, they were bad, but not as they now are.

Times are changing for the worse. What in the hell is happening to our children. And why are they not being protected.
Call me overprotective all you want, and i probably was, and in these times, i would be even worse. Sorry but in todays world, you can't trust no one with your child, and can't leave them alone for a second.
Why do some many parents not watch their children, not know where they are, or what time they will be coming home, why!

Children are being abused raped and killed at the hands of parents or friends, and now this, none of this makes sense to me, but hey look at this society and what has now become important to so many. Things of non importance.

Somehow I doubt this 13 y.o. accused rapist had over involved/protective parents. Probably just the opposite.

It is physically impossible to be with your kids 100% of the time. Life is a crapshoot. No matter what you do, bad things can happen.
We try to make good choices and raise them right, but there are bad people out there.

For some people, the only deterent to violence is termination. It is a fact that most violent offenders are also repeat offenders. It is
why I believe in capital punishment.
