Well there is a resemblance. Evidently by saying the father looked like Obama the child was implying all Blacks look a like and the school considers that racist.
Quote:
What allegedly happened was that Grayson made the comment about the similarities between the newscaster and the President to a friend, which was overheard by a girl who related the comment to Schauble’s daughter who allegedly got upset and told her teacher.

As in any unwitnessed conversation, the exact wording sometimes gets lost in the translation. Winger told Thomas that his son’s comment inferred that “all black people look the same” and that, in the district’s eyes, is racist and a punishable offense.

Grayson was removed from his class immediately and sent home. No chance to get his things, no chance to say goodbye.

Got to remember..schools practice zero tolerance. PC gone amuck.
But he didn't get expelled. He was there on an intra-district waiver and the waiver got revoked so he has to go back to his home district school.

Yes, the schools have erased their own common sense with "zero tolerance" but in this case what tolerance was needed? Gee, the poor kid may have meant it as a compliment. The race issue gone-wild. Stupidity!

Were I this kid's parent I would've chewed the officials out and then, "IF" able, yanked him from that district so fast! (I know! many parents are not able to do such a thing, sigh)

I miss what the USA was in my youth, which was only 20 years ago. Being offended was not a crisis situation.

Agreed x 2.

Zero-tolerance is code for knee-jerk reaction without the benefit of thought behind it.

They did the kid a favor. Government school is no place for anyone who thinks outside the state box.

Why would the father of the girl allow it to go that far? Why isn't he out there telling the school his daughter over-reacted? What lessons is he teaching her? Given the text messages she sent the boy later she appears to be a "B" in training, (my apologies to unspade female dogs). Why isn't such manipulation/lying considered a "hate crime"? Seems like the only racist is the little girl.

This part jumped out at me, so before I go off half cocked about zero tolerance and PC run amok, I'm going to file this one under "I don't know jack".
Quote:
The Blaze asked school officials and Schauble for comment to little avail. Schauble did not respond to interview requests. School board president Suzan T. Solomon noted “regret” over “misinformation out in the press” regarding the ordeal but declined further comment. Fleece’s office referred the matter to Winger, who offered that “there are two sides to every story” but declined further comment, citing student confidentiality issues. He provided the following statement:
The Newhall School District regrets that untrue statements have appeared in the media. The District adheres to the privacy requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) as amended (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99), California Education Code sections 49062 et seq., Article 1, Section 1 of the California Constitution and all other applicable federal and state laws and regulations that safeguard a student’s educational records, privacy and confidentiality.
Winger apparently revealed a bit more to a local radio news site, which quoted him as saying, “It’s not what [Grayson] said, it’s how he said it…I can tell you that there was history and that the student had been counseled and we met with the parents.”
