The 'Spanish is from Spain' thing is getting old. We speak English, does that mean we need to learn the British way of spelling/pronouncing etc? Nah, we get taught a different version of English in America. It's no different, really.
As for the pledge, I grew up in Germany and took English classes from a young age and knew the American anthem and pledge in English. Learning about a culture has a great deal to do with learning a language... Do you know any other languages?
