NEW YORK (AP) -- General Motors will buy Chevrolet Volts back from any owner who is afraid the electric cars will catch fire, the company's CEO said Thursday.
Does this includes the ones that catch fire in garages?
Quote:
"I think in the interest of General Motors, the industry, the electrification of the car, it's best to get it right now than when you have - instead of 6,000 - 60,000 or 600,000 cars on the road," he said.
6000? Are there REALLY that many on the road?
Picking winners and losers - a very bad habit of obama's that so far has resulted in the virtually collapse of all that is "green".
When your garage catches on fire, I would think that would create a lot of smog and pollution. Oh well, maybe Obama can push for "100,000 firefighters on the street" as a response. Create jobs, you know.
Kudos to GM, Toyota should have offered the same for the owners of their cars who were concerned about stuck gas pedals...
Yeah, because GM always buys back large quantity recalls, like they are this tiny one. The Volt is selling so slowly, GM has to rescue what's left of its image. Not even Motor Trend's Car of the Year award has brought sales up to projections. GM is scrambling to save what is left of this car's image, as they should.
Were there not so much at stake with the Volt, it would just be another recall. Saturn did the same thing (before GM ruined that too), when the original models were in their infancy.
The Chevy Volt still carries a gas tank, so it has as much chance of exploding or catching fire in a crash as any conventional gasoline-powered vehicle.
If you want to drive a car without the safety hazards of gasoline, get one that is 100% electric like the Tesla or Leaf.

Funny, there seems to be something unusual, as in defect, for this vehicle.
