You want the best gauge of real improvement in the economy? It's really quite simple.
Once the right wing starts questioning Barak's grades and his place of birth, we will know things are getting much better as the GOP will have little else to run on.
This kind of news actually helps creates consumer confidence. That translates into even more jobs. I have noticed large construction projects starting in the downtown of my city. Something is happening!
why not go back to the old math of calculating the UE rate. are the politicians that scared of telling the american taxpayers that we have a 20%+ unemployment rate?
The old math? In 1994 the name of the UE reporting category changed, but the math? Err, don't think so.
A lot of people must have stopped looking for work and receiving their UI.
No way possible the UE rate dropped .4% with only 120,000 jobs created.
Exactly right. They've lopped even MORE jobless off the rolls.

The "drop" would be good if 200K jobs were created, but since the "drop" came from discouraged workers LEAVING the workforce, that would NOT be good.

Good news? See above. IF the UE drops below 8%, it will be because obama's minions are fudging the numbers, rather than the economy actually creating sufficient number of jobs that be get a natural decrease in the UE rate.
Also remember that part of this drop that we are seeing is that people have lost benefits and fallen off the roster. UE is not at a new low.
It may or may not be. But on the flip side, one could make the same argument against high UE over last couple of years, because people weren't being allowed to be dropped off the benefits roster.
The fact that people like OPer and those that follow the same line of thinking ought to recognize (if not publicly accept) is that the same was happening in 2001, 2002, 2003... years before Obama who they desperately want to blame for everything.

Well, that isn't a new thing... it existed when you were fast asleep at the wheel owing to the advertised low UE rate in the early 2000s.

How it works is, the state labor depts. only report who is CURRENTLY collecting benefits. They don't count people who never qualified for them or count the people that exhausted their benefits. They actually count those people as working. Trust me, I know this, I work for a state Dept. of Labor.
So for this drop to have occurred, many people have exhausted their benefits and are no longer counted as unemployed. It's ALL a shell game!
I dont care who is in charge..just do the right job..BY THE CONSTITUTION
the fact is the fascist liberals have been killing the american way of life
Please explain. I would love to know how "fascist" liberals have been killing the American way of life?
(BTW fascism is a right-wing movement.)
