There is no war on Christmas. I wish people would stop acting like there was. Why do some people deign to judge a pleasant sentiment such as 'Happy Holidays' a slap in the face? It's kind of juvenile. And not very Christian. Christians, you're not a persecuted people here. Just move on with your lives and stop making what's supposed to be a holy day so profane.

Nobody actually thinks there is a war on christmas. People just like to stir the pot. Getting riled up is what people do for fun these days.

How many times have people been sued over Christmas? How many times have been lawsuits filed against someone, someplace, or something being Christmas? It happens every place and it happens every time... it may not be a war with guns but it is a war nonetheless... that is unless you are living in cave and have no clue what is happening... I have seen lawsuits against airports, private businesses, government institutions, carrolers, billboards, posters, greetings, etc etc that have been sued over for being Christmas which they say is religious... no war? or just more lies...

In all seriousness, I agree. I say "Merry Christmas" to everyone this time of year, unless I know the person is not Christian. Chances are, then that I've given that greeting to many an agnostic or atheist, and never caught flack for it.

Oh, and I work in a public school. We all, students and teachers alike, wished each other "Merry Christmas" while our Choir sang Christmas carols alongside secular christmas songs at our school assembly today (Joy to the World, It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, and O Come All Ye Faithful) Nobody cared, and some of my students are professed atheists.

But the thing is, I could have said "happy holidays" and it still wouldn't have been a problem.

It's nice that people can just live and let live.

Lol. That's another thing that sucks. Now it's like Merry Christmas is some sort of political statement. These jerks say it with a sneer and it makes me want to say it less. I had no problem with it before they ginned up this whole controversy back in 05.

As Ghandi once said, "I like your Christ, but I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

Honestly the only "War" on Christmas I see every year is amongst retailers! 'Feliz Navidad"!

No war on Xmas, but there sure is a wingnut war on the working poor. How Christian, how sad.

There are a select few here on C-D who think there is some kind of war on Christmas. I was watching X-factor last night (yeah, I know...) and couldn't help by notice the many Christmas songs and the Christmas trees in the background.

Liberal Hollywood sure went wayyyyy out there in making sure there was nothing Christmas-y to be seen or heard. Uh-huh.
