It is amazing Colorado is a blue state. Where have all the cowboys gone?

And who says there aren't jobs in blue states? Colorado's economy is far better than the rest of the country. Once the red states stop having their boom years, the jobs will be more or less equally spread throughout the country, with red states and blue states having pretty much equal chances for employment.

God forbid you have to put a little bit of effort into finding a job in Mass. or California (which have growing populations by the way).

They're still here, bro.

And they're actually less snobby-conservative than your average suburban Colorado Springs resident. Imagine that!

People are moving to less populated areas/cities just like frontier times... Nothing new

Yes, but that's not really what we're talking about here.

And don't you think some of these rabid anti-red state people would fit the bill?

For those who don't know me, I have a big problem with a lot of things in Texas that conservatives have done - like the recent cuts to education, the religious right's influence on the curriculum in Texas schools, and not doing enough about pollution. But it's not a different universe like some of you liberals (I don't mean you, mackinac) are saying. And low taxes and pro-business policies have really benefitted the state.

Colorado is a purple state and was clearly Republican-leaning until very recently.

Tony, Colorado's economy is better than most of the rest of the country in part because it's state and local tax burden is in the bottom 10-15 states in the country. Those are conservative policies, not liberal policies. Colorado is more of a libertarian state when you look at all its policies - it's consistenly ranked as one of the most "free" states (while states in the Northeast other than NH are ranked among the least free).

Colorado really has an excellent blend of progressivism and fiscally conservative policies. Hopefully those fiscally conservative policies will not change. I think CO is a great model. On a personal note, CO is absolutely my second favorite state. I love mountains - I'm a skier, hiker, mountain biker. I love the clean mountain air and I love the feeling of freedom. I absolutely love to visit Colorado.

This thread is loaded with ignorance. That's all I am gonna say.

A lot of it has to do with birth rates by states. Blue states tend to be more educated about sex while red ones are not and thus have higher teen pregnancies.

All in all I would never want to live in a red southern state and I am happy in the "communist" "tax heavy" north. The cities are much more enjoyable and the south seems too socially and politically backwards for me. No thanks.

I think this is largely based on aging baby boomers moving to warmer climates for the most part but, I don't know for sure

I hope you are not referring to Minnesota.

Minnesota is as "backwards" as Alabama. The difference is Minnesota is full of Scandinavian "Cold Weather Socialists".

Great news for Southern conservatives who love diversity. Goodbye Toby Keith concerts, hello Kayne West.

The twin cities are awesome but the rest is fairly bleh. I live in Wisconsin near Madison currently and Madison is awesome along with Milwaukee. The rest of the state is fairly bleh unless you are into hunting or fishing.

I plan on moving to Boston, Seattle or Germany in the future once I graduate though, given our current political situation in the land of beer and dairy.
