I dunno.

She's got a right to her opinion.

It just proves that having a gay/straight alliance in a school opens the door for people with opposing opinions to share them.

What's wrong with that?
Perhaps homophobia is a mental disease...seeing as how gay people pose no threat per se to heterosexuals.

and telling a lie is not an 'opinion'.

i could feel that blacks were inferior too.. is it appropriate for a school official to say that to black students?

or could it be the fact that gay people are NOT mentally ill by the very definition of mental illness.

The only reason why it was taken off the DSM list is because a group of homosexuals lobbied the annual meeting of the APA to remove it - rather militantly.

Not to mention there wasn't a full voting body of the APA to approve or deny it... so majority won... and there wasn't very much of a majority.
I guess you completely 'forgot' to mention the studies and research that this decision was based on?

Oh well.... I suppose one American's happy pill is just as good as any virgin in Africa.

Or maybe it's more on par with those who harvest the body parts of albinos for their pseudo-medical/shamanistic rituals.

ALBINOS AS ENDANGERED SPECIES

I'd rather pop a pill for my restless leg syndrome instead of using an albino body part any day of the week.

Did you delete this post because you realized it was nonsense? You could actually deal with the argument on hand rather than going off on crazy tangents.

The major difference between these rare occurances and the drug culture of the U.S. is that the drug culture of the U.S. is sanctified in culture. It is now considered a regular part of being American. Raping virgins and killing Albinos is not part of any mainstream African culture. And don't worry, if you follow the trends of American culture you probably will be or are popping pills.

And you conveniently forgot the research that the APA's decision was based on. The 'political pressure' was to get the APA to evaluate the evidence, (eg Evelyn Hooker studies). When they did, they found no pathology associated with homosexuality, therefore it could not be classified as a mental illness, therefore it was removed.

She can believe whatever she wants. But telling teens harmful lies based on her personal ignorance and prejudice is crossing the line, my opinion.

Well, she'll be out of a job soon. Can't have people like her speaking her mind, can we?

yeah, like we can't have racists telling black kids that being black means that they're intellectually inferior... Why couldn't they just speak their mind.. I guess they're the victims then huh.
