She was probably born in the fifties and until the seventies, Homosexuality was in our Medical Books as being an illness. It was "Political Pressure" that had it removed, long before they had any scientific studies about genes and things that they could use to claim folks were born that way.
She'll probably choose to keep her mouth shut about it, soon or run and live in a cave.

The only reason why it was taken off the DSM list is because a group of homosexuals lobbied the annual meeting of the APA to remove it - rather militantly.
Not to mention there wasn't a full voting body of the APA to approve or deny it... so majority won... and there wasn't very much of a majority.
I guess you completely 'forgot' to mention the studies and research that this decision was based on?

The major difference between these rare occurances and the drug culture of the U.S. is that the drug culture of the U.S. is sanctified in culture. It is now considered a regular part of being American. Raping virgins and killing Albinos is not part of any mainstream African culture. And don't worry, if you follow the trends of American culture you probably will be or are popping pills.

And you conveniently forgot the research that the APA's decision was based on. The 'political pressure' was to get the APA to evaluate the evidence, (eg Evelyn Hooker studies). When they did, they found no pathology associated with homosexuality, therefore it could not be classified as a mental illness, therefore it was removed.
