Vinson ported (San Diego) in June for refit. After a shakedown cruise in September, Vinson remained at port and left after the Thanksgiving holiday, about 50 days ago.
This is a scheduled cruise.

I was just thinking today that we could use yet another impending Iran attack thread.

Sounds like the author of that article writes fiction books for a living. Anybody with common since knows that part of having a good defense force requires training for the most likely scenarios.
Interesting that all the comments so far are about the source not the subject matter. Makes me think that none of the posters have anything meaningful to say or are totally in the dark about the topic.
