Why is this even being compared? This is another example of people throwing "gay rights" into the face of those who want them to just shut up and live their lives.
It has nothing to do with gay rights being thrown in people's faces. It's just that since anti-gays love to claim gays can't be good parents due to not having both a mother and father (ignoring the fact that single parents/divorced parents are not held to the same scrutiny), these types of studies dispel that myth.

Gays can make just as good parents as straights.
The part of the study presented here and the thread title are misleading, as we have been discussing here. That's why I said that.

Perhaps. Obviously gays are more likely to genuinely want children and are more likely to adopt, since they are not capable of having "oops" babies. So that's the only argument I could see over your average straight couple who doesn't really plan it.
Only other thing I could see with gay parents is they might be more likely to instill compassion, tolerance, and non-judgment into their kids based on the struggles they've had to deal with.
Not that those necessarily make them better parents, but merely they may have something beneficial to contribute.
I love studies and stats. Does this one take into account that those 50% unwanted pregnancies seem to keep happening to the same group of parents over and over?
Why is it automatically "bigoted" when someone doesn't agree with being gay? Nobody is getting defensive, they are stating their opinion, just as you are. How would you like it if I said everyone who supports gays is a whack job? I don't actually think that, but you probably wouldn't like it too much. It really doesn't make for good conversation when you start throwing out words like "bigot" on these topics. In fact, the thread starts to get nasty.
My own personal opinion? YES... Most psychologists and psychiatrists are crackpots. I have worked around them and find them for the most part a half a bubble off. I can only say that I have as a straight parent, raised 4 upstanding college graduates that contribute to their society and have also become excellent parents. They are happy and well adjusted. I doubt many parents, gay or straight could have done a better job.
Good parents aren't really all that confident that they've done everything right.
