The problem isn't with black thugs, or white thugs or Asian thugs. The problem is the way this country treats violent young criminal offenders. The pathetic newspaper won't even print the name of a violent 17 year old thug who attacks a person for no good reason. Study after study after study shows that violent teen offenders become violent young adult offenders and almost all reoffend. I'm sure that some if not most of the kids in these videos have already been arrested for some past violent crime. Therapy and ice cream doesn't work. Studies show that the only thing that prevents violent crime is keeping violent criminals in jail longer. Violent crime also decreases with age. So instead of giving violent young offenders therapy and ice cream and putting them on probation again and again, they really just need to put them in jail until they are 25 (depending on the crime of course). That seems harsh, but it's really the best way to deal with these attacks.
I guarantee you that we haven't heard the whole story yet. We will find out later that the victim said some nasty things to the kids as he walked by them. Probably called them the n word or told them to go back to Africa and they retaliated.

Trust me. If you put these kids in jail until they are 25, they will come out a hell of a lot worse. Don't believe the hype: jails/prisons aren't about rehabilitation. It's there where you hone your skills as a criminal.

It's not about rehabilitation, it's about incarceration. When a person in incarcerated they can't perpetrate a violent crime on another member of society. Violent crime also declines with age, the longer the person is in jail, the less chance of them committing a violent crime when they get out. A criminal can hone his skills on the street just as well.

No! My response was regarding “If someone was racist to you do they deserve server retaliation”. And my answer is yes. I wasn’t justifying these teenagers beating this man. It was in response to a question asked not to the situation being discussed.

No.
A violent, senseless crime is equally bad no matter what the status of the person.
Being a veteran does not make anyone more special than anyone else.
It's not a protected status, nor should it be.
Why not just discuss the crime without trying to pull at heartstrings?

It IS significant that they attacked a wounded vet. The guy was in his 60's with one eye, having lost the other one in Vietnam, for pete's sake. It IS significant. This was not a rival gang member or someone remotely able to defend himself. It shows just how ruthless these attackers were.
