Wait a minute... regarding your bum of the street comment...
There have been normal people who have, at the least, gotten a visit after making comments on Obama. The last I remember being the MMA guy calling Obama an idiot and getting a visit from the SS.
So even that portion of your statement is unstable.
If the comment is a threat, you should expect a response. We don't live in a fantasy world where there are no consequences. Anyone who threatens the POTUS in public is far from normal. The story you gave is more than a year old and this is the first time I've heard about it. Getting back to my original point, I don't hold our leaders to the same expectations as some guy off the street.
You assume too much about my thoughts or motivations. The context of this particular quote you excerpted was in the face of rather vicious and disrespectful comments about Gov Brewer. However, this entire incident between Gov Brewer and President Obama brings to mind the phrase "you earn respect".
I do not think it was prudent of him to use that particular opportunity to bring up his displeasure with her book. Her reaction to that seems to have caused controversy as well (e.g. the infamous finger pointing photo). I take umbrage with those that seem to excuse President Obama's poor behavior while railing against Gov Brewer's actions.
It wouldn't matter to you when or how he did it. If someone lied on you, would you say nothing and simply accept their invitation? As many have pointed out, Jan Brewer has a history of telling lies, yet she is excused by all of the Obama haters here who always take the side of anyone against him, even if they are siding with lying quacks or bigots. He has done nothing to be disrespected. He was elected POTUS, period. Whether or not you agree with him is one thing, but the POTUS does deserve a certain level of respect.
When people waste tax payer money and time filing bogus court cases challenging his citizenship, do you have anything to say about that? When people complain about him putting his feet on the desk in the oval office (as many before him have done), did you complain about that? When people refer to his wife as Moochelle, did you see a problem with that? How about when people talk about his daughters, his deceased mother or demand things that they've never asked for for any other POTUS (school transcripts, applications and papers that he wrote)?
If you have, good for you. I would hope so, but doubt it since you are so willing to defend Jan Brewer, a known liar just because she is disagreeing with Obama. I know Republicans who disagree with him on policy but are embarrassed by this behavior and actually speak out against it. Then there are the people that hate Obama so much that anything goes, bigotry, lies and attacks on his wife and family. That isn't about policy. If some of you had a choice between seeing this country succeed and seeing Obama fail, you would choose to destroy this country just to see Obama fail. People with this attitude have no business calling themselves patriots. This behavior is very unAmerican. As an American, I find it VERY embarrassing, disgusting, tacky and classless.

You probably just indicted about 60% of liberals and 80% of MSNBC talk show hosts with that statement.
The bottom line is that Jan Brewer just showed (on a larger scale) what an unstable, out-of-control, hotheaded, shrill nut she really is....President Obama walks away from this completely unscathed. Jan Brewer looks like a bitter and psychotic, scorned lover. Arizona will do well to rid itself of her.

And obviously, Jan Brewer is the one who has not "earned respect". She also obviously has little control over her emotions...not the sign of a good leader. So basically, the state of Arizona is being run by a hotheaded shrew.

I know people who have been insulted and they manage to keep their cool. They defend themselves, but do it in a calm and dignified manner. I also know people who go off the handle and completely lose it when they are offended. I wonder what category Gov. Brewer falls into to?
