Look at this guy's career. What a scumbag lawyer lobbyist Repub lieutenant. His father Franklin Abramoff was a good friend of Alfred S. Bloomingdale, who was a close friend of Ronnie and Nancy Reagan. (Bloomingdale has appointed by Reagan to the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board and named him a member of the United States Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy.) Abramoff spent ten years working in Hollywood and played a role in creating military-friendly flicks (writer and producer of "Red Scorpion") during the Reagan years. (Remember when Tom Cruise's "Top Gun" came along in 1986? A new Hollywood trend was born.)

When you elect Reagan, you get guys like Abramoff tagging along.

On an episode of Public Radio International's This American Life that aired in June 2006, journalist Jonathan Gold described Abramoff as a high school bully. "He was the sort of person who would walk across the street to be unpleasant to somebody," Gold says, going on to describe how Abramoff knocked him and his cello down a flight of stairs.

Elliott Abrams would be a close second.

I also find it interesting how often these Repub True Believers get the benefit of THINK TANK WELFARE (a position with the Cato Institute, the Eagle Forum, or maybe the Heritage Institute, or for the upper echelon lieutenants like Abramoff they create their own "think tank") while they are between administrations. Let's all have a talk sometime about THINK TANK WELFARE ...
