Is Eric Cantor Trying to Kill the Proposed Ban on Congressional Insider Trading? | Truthout

Over in the House, meanwhile, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) — who reportedly blocked Bachus from bringing up a ban on congressional insider trading in committee — wants to expand the legislation to include bans on other sorts of transactions, such as land deals. UCLA Law Prof. Stephen Bainbridge notes that this is likely an attempt by Cantor to kill the bill by making it so overly broad that no one will vote for it:

True or not? show me your facts.

Show you facts? Facts on how those idiots in Washington think? They think with their bank accounts not their brains.

Yeah they will ban "insider trading" and call it something else. Who will bring em up on ethics charges? The guy who is in on the deal with you? LOL. This entire thing is yet another joke.

So you would propose that they do nothing to start the process of stopping this? That would only leave you to be the one to *****! ymmv

What's the point in taking up politics if you can't use it to make a few extra bucks? Isn't that "the American way"?

Eric Cantor has been opposed to the idea of banning insider trading by congress since day 1 it was brought forth (at least a year ago).

No it's just more election year BS. It will never be passed and both sides will blame each other and make a big deal out of nothing and while all this is going on will they will be checking the daily congressional IPO updates to see if there is anything that interests em.

Cantor has opposed the bill from the beginning, stating that he needs more time to review it. The original bill was introducted over 6 years ago. He must be a slow reader

That Cantor is corrupt, but it's ok with you because both parties in congress are corrupt. The solution to corruption is more corruption. No problem.
