I've heard people say that they are offended or bothered by an actors views or political activism. Does this matter or affect your decisions when consuming their work? I personally don't care what they are into, as long as the music, films, or books are quality, I'm good to go.

I don't care about their politics, but if it's really horrible (like domestic violence, etc.) their personal behavior sometimes can be enough to make me boycott their work. I have close personal friends with a variety of political view points, but none of my friends beat their wives...same line of thought.

I personally have enough sense not to let someones politics get in the way of my appreciation of their art.

If I pay to hear them sing or to watch them act, then do that.
I think it is rare that an entertainer should get into politics beyond pushing donations to a non-political charity.

I avoid political actors and singers.

Not really. RATM are very left-leaning but I like their music. Hell, there's a band called Anti-Flag I enjoy listening to despite their political views as well.

Here's an example of RATM gettin' political a few years ago (the rant starts about a minute in)

But that doesn't stop me from headbanging to this

Back when he first came out I really liked Cat Stevens. I still like his music, but ever since he came out in favor of killing people because they don't like his religion I really can't bring myself to listen to him or buy his music.

We had quite a few people here on CD attacking Kelly Clarkson when she endorsed Ron Paul, most of them claimed that she couldn't sing which is a pretty stupid thing to say.

I wouldn't care if Miles Davis or John Coltrane hated my beloved mother. I'd still be just as fanatical about them anyway.

I don't care about artists personal beliefs. If the art is good, i'm consuming it.
