Is it to battle over ideological or partisan convictions, or to do what's best for the country, even when it involves giving the "other side" a chance?
I think it should be to do what's best for the country. No one person or group is right 100% of the time and most people are not going to identify fully with 1 group or party be they Green, Republican, Constitution, Libertarian, Democrat, etc.

Sadly it seems political comments / questions (on here as well) end up being a case of mudslinging and blaming with people not considering the merits of the other sides .

Probably shouldn't be drawing attention to yourself considering all the bull**** and tin fol crap you post on a daily basis.

That's not even 1 page of crazy crap you start, let alone what you post.

I guess you have hit over 80 now, which qualifies you with the under 5 crowd where people think what you say is cute instead of offensive now.

LOL, I'd rep you if I could. If you read a few of those thread they follow the same pattern. Post an unsupported claim, bash anyone that responds with the same message over and over. Never a discussion, just bait a OP and bash away. Trolling???? What does Roy Sold Boy mean anyhow?

An ongoing theater of the absurd designed to distract from the inexorable death march of late capitalism.

Politics is the art or science of government. What you're talking about is the discussion of politics. The exchange of ideas is usually friendly unless the other person is unintelligent and has ideas that have no factual basis. Most people make their opinions based on emotion and then struggle to justify them.

"Our political system will be destroyed by all that partisanship"

"Go ahead and say who the ignorant ones are. We know who you think they are and many of us think it may be you and the others of your kind."

So our political system will be destroyed by people like you? You're flip flopping.

None of the choices on the poll....

Politics is a bunch of elitist people who feel they know better then anybody else and manage to convince other people to vote them into office where they no longer have to follow the rules of society, line their pockets with money garnered from insider trading information and get to put their friends they owe favors to either placed in cushy government jobs or handed lucrative government contracts where they can hire illegal aliens to pocket even more obscene profits.

Then they can stand there in their $1,000 suits/dresses, perfectly manicured hair and hands, $15,000 dollar smile, faces botoxed to give their constituents faith they are still young enough to get the job done and lie to the sea of bobbing heads standing below them on the ground that everything is coming along nicely.

Do you regard politics as a battle or as a friendly exchange of ideas.?

To me its just entertainment, i love the crazy stuff the righties come out with, the crazier the better, so much useless tempest in a teapot or sky is falling themes, their hate, rage and knickers in a knot attitudes over just about everything is hilarious.
On the other hand the lefties are kinda boring and not as entertaining as they just talk about normal stuff, if the section was just lefty orientated i'd probably not bother tuning in...
Lets have more birther stuff and conspiracy theories. , and stop holding back on your hate for Obama themes. Also the righties upcoming epic fail with their pathetic Presidential contenders is really going to be fun to read the excuses/responses the day after...

Since C-D is about the ONLY place I discuss politics,it's just a fun way to pass the time (some days)...you can talk about it until a squealing worm pops out of your butt, but in the end you are pretty much powerless as an individual to change it or the absolute stink of corruption that it has became.
