What? There is currently ONE country in the Middle East that is "awash" with nuclear weapons. Care to guess which one it is?

You missed the point like another poster said it is not to do with the situation iin the ME but rather that you are losing influence becasue never before has Chian and Japan and isreal made a point to see us first or invite us to see them and talk trade and other issues.

I mean it is not like Canada could offer much military support due to the fact that we are geared to intergrate into U.S. fleets and do Joint operations and work side by side each other. But now it seems that getting a vote of support from our country is use by other countries to gain leverage.

It might also have to do with no major decsions are being made because of this being an election year and instead of doing something that may effect votes even if it is needed to be done...I mean the Election comes first right now and it is effecting how things get done or not done.

It has to do with no doing anything major until 2013 and the grid lock is making it hard to get urgent issues addressed such as new trade deals or major threats that have reach a point where we no choice but to deal with it even if it is seen as un popular with voters.

I mean things will go back to normal once the election is over because we (Canada) have no real ablilty to project force other than by trade sacntions on our natural resources which gives us alot of soft power but we have no hardpower.

We are set up for NORAD defense and to go on joint NATO mission we are unalbe to go it with out having atleast France or the UK to provide the force needed to project force in unstable regions...I mean the Libya mission was an example of we still need small amount of us support but can let the role be more of advising and providing intel and we would provide the hardware, money and troops as a means to carry out those missions.

Um...why?

I know Dan Quayle once said "The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history", but he's not a liberal.

More reason to vote for obama again in november.

Good. If Canada is Israel's new BFF then they can donate $3 billion of their own money to Israel's coffers instead of the USA bankrolling them.

And then finally the USA will get the Israel monkey off its back.
