Yea, Ahmad Jamal is probably the most important musician of his genre among his peers. He's definitely on the rung right below Satchmo, Duke, Diz, Bird, Prez, Goodman, and Monk.
I'd put him right there with Miles, Trane, Clifford Brown, Dolphy, Getz and Brubeck. Actually i'd put him right above them as far as his creativity goes.
I'd add John Coltrane to your list but otherwise I totally agree with your post.
Yea, i gotta admit that i have a special place in my heart for Springsteen even though i'm a jazz guy. I love his music. He's a first class songwriter.
Thanks for sharing the music not really my kind, but it's relaxing and makes me what to have a glass/bottle of wine, I don't even drink
I bet the usual suspects are mad at the way this thread played out.
I like that we took a race baiting thread and made it into something positive. Sharing music is always a good thing, even if some of you lack the taste to realize the greatness that is Amon Amarth.
Rock in all of its forms is a derivative of rhythm and blues, the blues and country music so there would be no Rock without Black folks.
I agree!!
The Stones say they were rooted in traditional verities, in rhythm-and-blues and soul music Muddy Water & Chuck Berry. Mick has said he carried the albums around and listened to them a friends houses
Sorry Wynternight it's that deep something just can't handle it. My 23 yr old listens to that and it sounds like the devil walked in
I was/still tune into AC/DC when I wanted something Rockin'
The devil is scared of Amon Amarth....
"For those about to rock....WE SALUTE YOU!" \m/
