And abortions too. So if your transgender and can't afford the meds then just renounce your citizenship and all will be well.

The 2011 Operations Manual ICE Performance-Based National Detention Standards says that all illegal alien detainees shall be screened by a specially trained detention officer within 12 hours of their arrival at the detention facility. The operations manual specifically states that the "screening shall ... inquire into a transgender detainee's gender self-identification and history of transition-related care, when a detainee self-identifies as transgender."
If the self-professed illegal alien transgender detainee has been receiving hormone therapy on the outside, ICE will give it to him or her on the inside.
“Transgender detainees who were already receiving hormone therapy when taken into ICE custody shall have continued access,” states the report. “All transgender detainees shall have access to mental health care, and other transgender-related health care and medication based on medical need. Treatment shall follow accepted guidelines regarding medically necessary transition-related care.”

This has been around a couple of days and not one left leaner has mentioned it. I bet you will find yourself buried in deflection from them within the net hour. It is too sad to think of but sure enough there.

Do y'all feel the same about detainees with asthma or diabetes or cancer or psychological problems? Should the taxpayers pick up their meds?

Why or why not?

I would say, "Yes," because it is inhumane to allow someone to suffer. Let's say that it was known that a such amount of detainees needed medication to prevent a diabetic shock or coma, you definitely would want to do the right thing to keep them from suffering. Unfortunately, with the way our society is, our government and our welfare system, the people have no choice but to foot the bill. We can fight and propose to do away with such, that's an option.

There are MANY methods and options though, I think. We could FORCE them to come up with payment for their medications themselves and only provide if they abslutely can't. They could contact family in the other country or even within the country to provide a lump sum that would covern medication for a time period or they could be billed. They could work for their medications. Basically, it doesn't seem like our government has taken too much time to think about ways to keep US from being the people that foot the bill. Or how about this, the government of the country that they came from could pay for it. I have the feeling that the US, our own government, probably never attempted ANY of this.

I think the problem is there can be some bad problems if certain drugs/meds are stopped all of a sudden.
