While Obama was giving his speech to the college students, he neglected to finish his statement of 'we are drilling more today that ever' with 'because of drilling on private and state land with permits granted during the Bush Administration'.
We still are not doing enough to find and use our own resources. This clown continues to mock those who use common sense. You're damn right Drill Baby Drill. Stupid arrogant clown.
I think that people who've educated themselves about the energy policy of our government, and private industry, understand that the President's efforts have been successful ... even given the obstructionism of an extremist House of Representatives. The GOP seems to want to transfer our wealth to the Saudi's and other Middle East nations instead of working towards greater national security and expansion of renewable energy sources. The GOP candidates are wolves in sheeps clothing. Not to be trusted.

Developing our nations oil, gas, coal and nuclear energy is the way to become independent from the terrorist oil nations of the middle east. Alternative energy and conservation can only make a small impact for the foreseeable future. Obama panders to his treehugger base at the expense of what is best for the country.

The renewable energy resources the government is focused on are solar and wind which produce electric and has nothing to do with oil, the day of electric cars being predominant are far off in the future if ever. At the very least you'll have transitory period of a few decades where they are powered by liquid fuels from coal, liquid fuel from oil shale, CNG or bio fuels like that derived from algae all of which can be produced domestically with enormous supplies. 100% electric cars have a niche but it's very small niche.
This electric power derived from renewable energy resources is very expensive that relies on huge government subsidies to be competitive. We have both enormous quantities of coal and natural gas which can be used to produce electric. It's unnecessary to push this tech through before it's competitive.

That's because a lot of treehuggers are not liberals. They are a cross section of Americans of all political beliefs, races and creeds that Republiacns have chosen to pigeonhole as a bunch of insane loonies just because they believe that the environment should be a priority.

Now that's really funny. You have lowered the bar lower than a frogs ass.
