In this day and age, it's harder to hide your past because (nearly) everything is on the Internet... if the Internet existed when us "older people" were growing up, we'd probably have found out some scandalous things about our teachers too! Thinking back, I recall a few teachers who seemed like they'd have been wild in their pasts.

Bottom line, as long as they haven't done anything criminal (hence the fingerprinting & background checks required), and as long as they're a good teacher, who cares? I know some of you like to pretend you're perfect, but I imagine ALL of us have a skeleton or two in our closets.

Really? Then why are so many on this thread supporting his right to teach? Seems like you're actually the exception here...

Talking real life - not the internet, where all the activists without much in the way of actual responsibilities devote themselves to spreading their alternative lifestyle opinions. Kind of like how Hollywood wants us to think everyone is living the uber left trendy lifestyle, when in reality, most people are sitting in front of the TV, in their pj's after a hard day's work.

What does this have to do with the teachers union?

If not, then what you brought up is irrelevant.
No it isn't. You and others have the nuts to tell parents what your flavor of right and wrong is, yet have no clue (or children) yourself. How on earth can your opinion be taken seriously? The "childminded" in here can't even make the connection between this mans history and willingness to commit acts of sexual perversion (on film) and giving him access to teach young children. To portray this as being just fine is mind boggling. But hey, people loved Hitler too, and look how that turned out. Open your eyes and stop being ideological fools. Some things are wrong no matter how much you wish them to be right. This is one of them.

Most people here (including myself) have "real responsibilities" - jobs, families, etc. Did you think we were all unemployed liberal activists, or what? I rarely even discuss politics outside of this forum, and I certainly am not devoted to saying or spreading anything here! We may not represent the exact demographics & mindset of the general public, since we are after all on a political website... but I think we do cover most types, and very few people here seem to be devoid of all responsibilities. I do wonder about you, however, seeing as you have so much time to start pointless threads on here.

P.S. I'm not in my pajamas yet, but I did just get home from work & sat down in front of the TV. See, I have this newfangled thing called a laptop... and I know how to multitask, LOL.

All of the above is merely opinion, and other people have the right to their opinions too... what you call "perverted" many call natural, and what you call "wrong" many would say is no big deal. I'm not a fan of pornography myself, but I certainly don't think it makes him incapable of teaching - considering he was doing what most people do in private, it just so happens he let himself be filmed. If every teacher put their sexual relations on film, I imagine he wouldn't be the freakiest! Gay OR straight, mind you.

At one time a teacher could be fired simply for being gay, and even for being unmarried with a live-in partner (of any sex). They called those things "wrong" back then, and now it's illegal to fire somebody for such things.

You're making a gigantic assumption that there are many more extraverts like this guy, and then rewritting his history as something minor and forgettable.

It's rediculous how far one will go to make anything okay these days. Just more anti-family/religion/moral, pro-homosexual/radical/anything goes babble. Some people don't see anything wrong with murder and genocide either, but I guess all good chaos grommets have to start at the bottom and work their way up.

Just more trying to control everything. They get more bizarre every year. The few teachers I've had who were gay (didn't say they were gay, but you could tell they were) were very strange people and very unfriendly. I don't trust them to teach our children.

My contention is that someone is calling themselves a parent, and not being one in an obvious manner. Just like I can tell you have a problem with anything even remotely authority related. It's not that you oppose common sense, just someone telling you which version to use.

One thing is obvious in these forums. There are a LOT of children, and by CHILDREN I mean anyone under 25. Most of you haven't reached the point in your lives when a light goes on and

COMMON SENSE
: sound and prudent judgment based on a simple perception of the situation or facts

enters the equation of decision making. Reactionary thinking isn't logical thought. Have kids and watch how fast logic takes precedence. If it doesn't, if you intend to stay "young at heart, and stupid in mind", then by all means contracept up and leave parenting debates to parents.
