I don't see near as many of the huge truck-based SUVs as I did just a few years ago. Most of the ones I see now are car-based which get much better gas mileage. I very rarely see the Hummer these days.
I see a lot of brand new Suburbans though it seems. I pulled up to a pump yesterday right after a Suburban pulled out--$80 was showing!

I've noticed that, also. And I saw a Hummer the other day - since they're getting less common, it looked even more like a shoebox on wheels.
Typical liberal mindset:Worried about what other people do/have/drive
Not really Frank, I just think they are ugly as sin and I won't miss them at all. Can't see around them, they are a hazard on the road. Never should have been approved for passenger use as they are unsafe for other cars with designed crumple zones.
Am I worried about gas prices? Yes, terrible for the economy if it goes too high.
But my one bright spot will be to see the end of those things.
I laugh at these suv jokers at the gas station, just like I laugh at them stuck in the snow.

Ha, my Dad used to say the only difference between a 4WD and a 2WD is the length of chain it takes to pull them out of the ditch (Dad was a farmer, pulled more than one 4WD pickup out of the mud or snow).

It's so sad that you have no clue what your talking about....
Are you trying to say that SUV's (body on frame) do not cause more deaths than unibody cars because if so I would like to know what you are smoking.
Did you read the article, I would say NOT since those stats are pretty much the first thing they talk about....
But here for your reading pleasure...
Quote:
Real-world fatality data for 2005-2008 models reveal 28 driver deaths per million registered SUVs. There were 56 car driver deaths and 52 pickup driver deaths per million for the same period. Minivans were the safest with 25 driver deaths per million registered vehicles.
Sure the people in the SUV are safer, but they are killing the people in the cars who should walk away.
