All of that is fine. My question is why Zimmerman chose to get out of his vehicle and chase the boy even though the police advised him that he didn't have to do that and as the block captain he should have been aware that he was not supposed to confront him.
That's a very valid question, shouldn't you wait for an answer before making assumptions?
First off.....if I am in a confrontation..and somebody is attempting to bodily harm me...and I kill them......
Outside of the law, what makes it wrong? What makes it wrong for me to kill somebody trying to attack me?
Okay lets see...a man is following a woman, she runs he chases her, she doesn't know what he's going to do so she defends herself with pepper spray when he gets close enough to grab her...is it okay for him to shoot her?

That's the issue with these laws, as is what is considered a threat to your safety is really spelled out. I mean i don't know how the guy who chased a teen half his size, and started a scuffle with him could feel threatened, esp considering no weapon was found.

He initiated the aggression...she was justified. No, it's not OK for him to shoot her under my philosophy.
I see where you are going with this... and we do not know if this was indeed the scenario or not with Trayvon.

Mam, you dropped your purse and I was trying to return it. Thanks for pepper spraying me.
No he is the 'self appointed watch captain'. We don't know if that means he just decided to run the group, or like the guy in my neighborhood is the sole member. And do you have a link stating he was involved in arrests? I mean usually there isn't much crime in gated communities.
Maybe you should try reading up before you jump in this thread. Not only have there been thefts and arrests but there was a shooting in this "gated community" in the last 12 months.
The term "gated community" seems to be thrown around a lot in this thread as some sort of way of saying that this is a nice/rich area. This "gated community" is a condo complex just like any apartment complex with an access gate to stop random cars from driving through. It's not like this was a million dollar home "gated community" with posted security at the gate and paid watchmen on the property at all times.

Well the thing is most articles are calling it a gated community, and only one i have read so far mentioned it was a condo complex.

Exactly....there are projects that are "gated communities"...
And people think that "condos" assumes you are living with a bunch of docile individuals. Even if this is the case...People do move in and change the dynamics of neighborhoods dramatically...
Maybe if Trayvons family acquainted themselves with their community this would have never happened. When I was growing up I knew everybody in my town let alone my community.
