I'm glad I lean liberal and progressive, however, I don't have a major issue with requiring a govt. issued ID to vote.
I mean, if you need one to cash a check, why wouldn't you need one to vote.
HOWEVER, if the GOP is coming up with laws requiring photo ID's that are meant only for the purpose of voting, when 99% of people already have at least a state issued ID, that's horse hockey and really reeks of oppression.
So, if you can answer as neutrally as possible, are they trying to do the latter, or just enforce the former, which, is reasonable, if they only want to use ID's that most people already have, without making up new ones and disguising it under "voter integrity"?

1. Don't expect anybody to be neutral when it comes down to issues that involve race.

2. The GOP only cares about voter ID laws because they know this will be a tight election. They want to try to prevent as many minorities from voting, so they use this law to do it.

3. If the GOP were guaranteed that all white people would vote republican, they wouldn't care about voter laws.

to me it doesnt matter what party we are talking about

you vote should count...but it should count for YOU, and YOUR DISTRICT

I see NOTHING wrong with requiring everyone to have an photo ID...be PROUD of who you are and your residency...PROUDLY voye for YOUR representitive...but lets be truthful, and PROPERLY vote in the PROPER district

as to what some have and dont have (individual states) we NEED a NATIONAL STANDARD...I believe there should not be state drivers licenses only a USA drivers/nondrivers id

It should be for people who do not have a drivers license or any other State or local ID. I agree that everyone should have an ID to be able to vote with all of the voter fraud going on. I see this only as proof of who you say you are.

No thanks. I'm glad REAL ID was shot down when Bush wanted to get it passed

So, in summary, they are trying to make a law, which is not really needed, when you have the "proof", current govt issued ID's, already in place?

Where in the world did you get the idea that the GOP wants a special ID made up? A photo ID from DMV will work. DL or not.

So now the question is, why are the liberals up in arms about it then, if most people already have ID in Texas, and those that don't can get a free ID card? Tell me what is racist about that?
