Remember all those years you studied grammar/spelling? remember how you worked on your penmanship? or perhaps what about the work involved obtaining factual information, all those long hours using multiple books in the library?
But now with internet technology a lot of that hard work doesnt matter anymore. Its like those who goofed off could be close to your level because the skills you obtained doesnt matter and/or they could obtain your skills very quickly. I'm one those who rely on spell checker. But regardless I still recognize how unfair it is.
Are you concerned that with more advancements all your hardwork could be a waste of time? maybe in the future it could be like The Matrix where talents/skills could be a simple download? Like how Neo just "downloaded" jiu jitsu. Whereas someone who studied jiu jitsu for decades would feel silly.
Not suggesting people shouldnt work hard anymore. Just wondering if anyone feels cheated. Anyone concerned?

Know. Two much dependence on technology has created a generation of kids who rely on spell checkers too catch there Miss Steaks. Their is know substitute four grammar. I'm amazed at the number of young kids who can't draft a legible report, or who don't right in slang.
Many of our deliverables were technical reports written for PhD-level audiences. I was an excellent technical writer.
The first paragraph didn't have a single spelling error.

Facts are cheaper than ever before, more abundant by a factor of a million, and data proliferates and propagates.
Context, background, and meaning are scarcer than ever--and more valuable. My liberal arts degree, earned the hard way long ago, in the library, with analog methods, gave me the tools to bring context, background and meaning to life in the data torrent. My hard work then is more valuable than ever.

We can talk about all the people who are going to scroll right past your post because they don't understand it.
The worst waste of time might have been learning to program a computer in a dead language, like Fortran or Basic.
Hours of tedium for pathetic output=

It could have been worse. I could have studied French for 3 years.

Uhhhhh... no, I don't feel silly at all.... Why should I?
Just because you choose to look down on people who worlk hard by choice?
Nope. I saw the potential of technology from a young age. So I went with the flow and became a programmer (as well as systems and network engineer).
Always learning new stuff every day.
