ONLY when we are in imminent danger of an attack on our soil.
110 Tomahawks launched on a Puppet dictator the western nations created is not legal under the oath he swore to uphold the Constitution.
WRONG,
a president can take military action, move military to any part of the world he pleases WITHOUT COngressional consent as he is commander in chief of the miltary.
President Clinton bombed serbia, President Reagan bombed Libya, President Clinton sent troops to somalia,
this was all done WITHOUT congressional approval,
the president needs congress if he wants to DECLARE WAR, NOT for small military actions. and if he wants a military action to last longer than six months THEN the congress needs to OK it.

It was actually Bush sr who sent the troops into Somalia in Dec 1992. Clinton wasn't in office until the following month.
Nice how the Bush boys leave a rat's nest for the incoming president to deal with.
Oh, I've got links too...even at a leftwing site by a Phd from harvard that was posting when BUSH was in office.......and I'll serve you a plate of them after I get home from base, or ASAP.
So! we both have links....this is gonna be righteous fun.
I'll actually post to you again if you think you can grow up, not act like a lib/being pitifully sophomoric.
Too cool...looks like a host of folks have beat us to this debate, so much so that there's even a poll on peoples' interpretation of the constitution on it.
Yeah, any cursory search engine use brings up countless websites with either of the interpretations.
It isn't the Militia that is controlled by him "when called into service by the US," but the sentence, OF COURSE has to start, and end by talking about Him, the president...and it does, and it is saying that the president is the commander in Chief
"when called into service by the US." In other words...
Don't embarass yourself! A link to a poll which shows that the interpretation of the constitution on this issue that was taught to me is not a rare interpretation. *(duhhh)
In fact, our citizenry is almost split half and half on it.
Wrong. Thanks for playing. The SecDef is a assistant position to the President. At all times. JCS are advisory roles to the SecDef and POTUS. Sad that you don't even know how your country works.
You can argue details. I can continue to rightly argue "in principle."
Our military has a chain of command. I'll leave it to you to claim that you are describing it perfectly. I, as a military wife and mom don't need to describe it. I, if and when I have an issue to go FRG or a chaplain, and things get passed up that chain.
The president is only commander in Chief "LEGALLY" once he is called up to service by our military being called up for service...both, Actively.

65 votes on a non scientific poll is representative of our "citizenry"?
FYI - I could easily go vote on that poll 15 times in a row. It means nothing.
According the the Huffington Post, the Marine Corps has started removal proceedings against the Sergeant, who has doubled down on his postings and has disobeyed orders to stop.
He'll be gone before April Fool's Day. Somebody ought to stick a pointed cap on his head right now so he'll be used to it when he gets his discharge. You know that discharge ain't gonna say 'Honorable' anywhere on it.
And there is still time to put himself in the brig for 6 months before he gets escorted out the gate. Disobeying a direct order can accomplish that in a half-day, easy. There is not a pleasant hour spent in a Marine brig.
He will someday be written in history...the true, honest history and not the subversive's version....as the hero that he is.
He knows he has a right to his opinion as long as he is not allowing for the illusion that he is saying what he is from within any authority of the uniform, and yet he continues. He sees he's in deep and is milking it for all its worth. What he is writing has now made the news and is being read by more folks than he ever dreamed would do so. THIS....is why he is doing what he is...he has "bowling apparatus," true love for our nation as-founded, and is a hero for this nation.
