What a shame, I bet she would have been in the running to win. Also, according to Canadian law she's legally a women, not to mention Canadian law protects the transgendered from discrimination, so I wonder if the pageant's action is legal.

Miss Universe Canada bounces contestant who was born male
In Canada, Trans Miss Universe Contestant Ejected From Competition: VIDEO |Gay News|Gay Blog Towleroad

"Jenna Talackova was born a boy. But that didn't stop her from being a Miss Universe Canada contestant. Indeed, until a few days ago her profile was visible on the official beauty pageant website.

'All I can say is that they disqualified me because I am not 'natural born,'

The Vancouver native says she has known she was a female since she was four years old. Talackova began hormone therapy at 14 and had sex reassignment surgery in 2010. Blogs were reporting Talackova's inclusion on the Miss Universe Canada's finalists' page as early as March 13. But her beauty pageant progress was short-lived.

She considers it a 'human rights' issue but would not elaborate until she talks to her lawyer early next week."

I don't believe that's how anti-discrimination laws work. Stores in Canada can't post signs saying, "No Jews" or "No Gays", even if they're private stores not owned by the government.

Because they were not natural born. It would be like letting a Golden Retriever in a Yorky contest.
