Rocket from Egypt's Sinai hits Israeli city -police | News by Country | Reuters

JERUSALEM, April 5 (Reuters) - A rocket fired from Egypt's Sinai desert struck the southern Israeli city of Eilat on Thursday causing no casualties or damage, Israeli police said.
The head of Eilat police, Ron Gertner, told Army Radio that explosions were heard in the holiday resort soon after midnight. Police found the remains of one rocket in a construction site, about 400 metres from a residential area.
Asked if the rocket was fired from Sinai, Gertner said: "Based on our working assumptions and the (rocket) range, yes." He added that police were searching for more rockets that may have landed.
The rocket attack came on the eve of the Jewish Passover holiday when the Red Sea resort is expected to be full of vacationers.

Construction site? That would be a good place to detonate your own rocket if you wanted publicity and pity.

Wait are you suggesting Israelis detonated a rocket in their own city to get pity and frame the Arabs?

More likely it was fired by some bedouin idiot who didn't know how to aim from across the Egyptian border, which is just a few hundred meters from the site.

That is exactly what I am implying. Take some aluminum tubing, a bit of paint and some fake fins and you have a "Arab Rocket". Detonate it with a few pounds of explosive in a deserted site at night and then be the only ones to see the wreckage is a great way to get more funding for your cop agency as well as make the Arabs look even worse. Don’t you people understand how desperate intelligence/police forces actually work? It must be budget time in Israel.

What evidence do you have to suggest this conspiracy??

Does it not seem more likely it that it was a crude rocket fired from Sinai, similar to the home made ones fired from Gaza? They land in open fields all the time because they have no more aiming capability than point and shoot.

The old Katushka was not much better. I do not have evidence only suspicion.

Your suspicion is far-fetched and biased, and therefore flawed.

Suspicion is never flawed.

Mine is based on a realistic but low trust in authority. I can see some set of cops saying "Hey it is budget time and not much has been happening. Somebody go out to that empty construction site and blow up some scrap metal. The publicity will help us get a couple more positions."

2 rockets hit Eilat (Israel's most southern city) and Israel didn't launch them.

By that same logic you could say the 9/11 terror attacks were an inside job.
Much larger scale, but same logic.
