How to flunk the course - - -
Ask the teacher to explain why anyone but an idiot or thief would wish to abolish private property?

From the Communist manifesto:
"In this sense, the theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property."

No matter how much lipstick they put on this pig, collectivism / marxism / communism / or socialism results in submission to the all powerful State, compulsory labor for the benefit of another (slavery) and expropriation of property for the benefit of another (theft).

This post shows your clear lack of understanding of Communism and Socialism.

I presume you do understand the Communist Manifesto?

Of course, Commies lie, so when they say "abolish", they really mean "protect"!

Let's try a different source:
COMMUNISM - the ownership of property, or means of production, distribution and supply, by the whole of a classless society, with wealth shared on the principle of 'to each according to his need', each yielding fully 'according to his ability'.
- - - Webster's Dictionary.

SOCIALISM - A political and economic theory advocating collective ownership of the means of production and control of distribution. It is based upon the belief that all, while contributing to the good of the community, are equally entitled to the care and protection which the community can provide.
- - - Webster's dictionary
Communism and Socialism = COLLECTIVE ownership.

Which is the OPPOSITE of private property ownership - as in absolute ownership by an individual.
"PRIVATE PROPERTY - As protected from being taken for public uses, is such property as belongs absolutely to an individual, and of which he has the exclusive right of disposition. Property of a specific, fixed and tangible nature, capable of being in possession and transmitted to another, such as houses, lands, and chattels."
- - - Black's Law dictionary, sixth ed., p.1217.

"OWNERSHIP - ... Ownership of property is either absolute or qualified. The ownership of property is absolute when a single person has the absolute dominion over it... The ownership is qualified when it is shared with one or more persons, when the time of enjoyment is deferred or limited, or when the use is restricted. "
- - -Black's Law dictionary, sixth ed., p. 1106
American law protects private property ownership.
Collectivism abolishes private property ownership.
Socialism and communism = COLLECTIVE ownership.

Which means an advocate of collectivism wants to STEAL other people's private property OR is not fully informed of the consequences of abolishing private property.

I can see why no collectivist wants the sheeple to understand their game plan - folks who steal are not welcome.

I'm sure it took a lot to deflect from the question instead of answering it when you were showed to be wrong.

For those with short attention spans:
Collectivism = slavery and theft by government.

Slavery as in compulsory labor for the benefit of another.
Theft as in expropriation of property for the benefit of another.
By government.

If you have to pay a tax to own or earn, you're not a capitalist nor a freeman, but a socialist serf. You no longer have the right to life, but a government taxable privilege.

You clearly do not understand Communism or Socialism either. You should not let your bad post discourage you from being wrong again.

You already received accurate definitions of communism and socialism from the same person you claimed didn't understand them. You are now claiming otherwise to deflect the fact you were wrong and continue to be. It's easy to bury your head in the sound instead of seeing the blatantly honest truth about communism and socialism which you support since it exposes an ideology you support to be a horrible thing.

The only people who benefit from collectivism are the recipients and the "insiders" who take a skim of the booty stolen from the hard working peons. Unfortunately, rewarding vice and penalizing virtue destroys a nation.
Eventually, the "Takers" outnumber the "Taken", who slack off when they realize that producing more only results in being deprived more, thanks to "progressive taxation".

Who decides which courses Chiron Studies will offer?
The Chiron Studies Committee selects Chiron Studies courses and shapes the program’s goals and vision. The committee is comprised of PSU students and faculty as well as members of the general Portland community who have shown a strong interest in democratic education and student empowerment. PSU students constitute a majority of the committee, and the Chiron Studies Coordinator is also a student.
