That's a damn good question. MRAPs were designed to offset and deflect undercarriage concussion and penetration of roadside bombs in a war zone. What would DHS need these?

Because they are just itching to really fight that war on terror.
Only there isn't any over here and that's all the jurisdiction they have.

Or they could be preparing for next year's Black Friday event at Walmart

These will be the vehicles used when they come in your neighborhood to take you to the FEMA concentration camps.............dont worry.......... they use your run of the mill yellow school busses to transport you there...you wont get to ride in one of these cool things.

What a colossal waste of money. This left-right dynamic contributes to this. Any politician that doesn't go along with "security" measures is accused of being "soft on terror" by his opponent. Hence, there is no significant opposition to from either Dems or GOP when it comes to stopping this fiasco. Billion Dollar defense and security lobbyist come in and make out like bandits, because our political system is so corrupted.

The biggest, oldest, worldwide, scam in politics. Make the citizens scared and you can take their money, and civil liberties away. If the give you any lip, accuse them of sympathizing with the enemy.
