well, one thing we know for sure. Ted didnt face criminal charges for the relationship. He was not convicted of anything.
I am not even sure that IF he did have sex with the 17y/o that it was illegal.
we would need to nkow the state they were in and the law on the books at the time.
I think we will not hear anything but crickets from those who have been screaming pedophilia. I dont believe there is any evidence he had sex with a minor.

17 is underaged no matter how you cut it. Whether its one month or 10 months from 18, it is underaged and illegal.

we are talking legal definitions that are on the books and are different for different things in different states.
at one point in this country the voting age was 21 while the drinking age was 18. now it is reversed.
the age that a person can engage in sex with an adult I believe is different from state to state as well, and was likely to be more different in the 1970s than now.
In a lot of states, 17 is considered a minor on some things, but if you break the law, you are considered an adult.
Now maybe in 1979 in the state that Ted was in, when he was with this 17 year old, it was against the law, but no one has actually provided that documentation.
