Former Rep. Rochelle Chronister, speaking for the group at a Statehouse news conference, said deep cuts in the state's income tax would force damaging increases in other tax sources.
"If something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is," the Neodesha Republican said. "You don't need an economist to tell you that if you virtually eliminate the income tax then you are going to see a sharp rise in property and sales taxes."
Chronister said 46 former Kansas Republican politicians with more than 500 years of collective years of public service had signed on with the group.
Members include former U.S. Sen. Sheila Frahm, of Colby; former Lt. Gov. Gary Sherrer, of Overland Park; former Senate President Dick Bond, of Overland Park; former House Speakers Jim Braden, of Clay Center, Wendell Lady, of Overland Park, and Robert H. Miller, of Wellington; former Sens. Alicia Salisbury, of Topeka, and Lana Oleen, of Manhattan; and former Reps. Jayne Aylward, of Salina, Ed Rolfs, of Junction City, and Jim Lowther, of Emporia.
The new breed of cut throat Repub's are running into resistance from older and more experienced people from their own party.

They are not economists at all. They are Former Republican Legislators.

Frahm, who also was majority leader of the Kansas Senate and Kansas lieutenant governor, said she agreed to be part of the organization due to apprehension about policy development under the current GOP leadership in Topeka.

The State supports the infrastructure from the oil royalty taxes. The oil royalty taxes accounts for 85% of the State budget. According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, Alaska ranks 27th in mathematics and 38th in reading among 8th graders nationwide. It was much better during the 1990s, and has gotten significantly worse since Democrats took control of Congress in 2007.
