When the republicans controlled the house and senate in 2002-2006, why didn't they eliminate entitlements when they had the chance?

I don't know of a single republican that wants to eliminate entitlements. I only know of republicans that want to reform entitlements.

I'm a republican and I don't want to get rid of them... just reform them and maybe provide more oversight instead of just handing out entitlements to anyone that wants them.

Just think Seniors voting. That should answer your questions. The R's as well as the D's do alot of talking and neither actually does any followthrough.

Because both parties are on the take. Ever wonder how most congressmen leave office much wealthier than when they entered? Both sides take huge amounts from lobbiests. As far as spending goes, one sides is running toward the cliff, while the other side is jogging toward the cliff, but both are headed in the same direction. They just misdirect so the public doesn't wise up. George Orwell was more prophetic than he realized when he wrote 1984.

Socialist InSecurity is an abomination - but since the recipients outvote the donors, we're stuck with it until the nation collapses under the load.

Remember, compulsory labor for the benefit of another is slavery, whether part time or full time.
