53% of the people in the US are now in favor of allowing same sex marriage vs 45% against.
1. why has EVERY election regarding gay marriage been voted down? If this statistic were true then gay marriage would have passed in some states? There is no (logical) way to accept these "stats" as fact. But, go ahead and try to prove me wrong.

2. 42.7% of all statistics are just made up.

Again, if 53% are in favor, then why did 58% in NC vote against. Either the poll was invalid, or people are changing again.

The poll was nation wide....NC is not representative of the nation.

31 states voted it down (ALL who have voted, 100%). That's 62% of the states.
Those 'polls' are clearly wrong.

Polls are often done by phone or in person. Voting is private, no pressure, you can
vote without worrying about what someone else thinks (Political Correctness).

I will often hem and haw in conversation with a group of people, for fear of hurting
someones opinion, or wanting to stay out of an argument.

At work, we always had interdepartmental meetings. Sometimes we would vote on
various issues. Whenever we had a show of hands, everyone voted with the boss.
When we had secret ballots, he usually lost.

Even if we take your numbers a true indicator of the sentiment of the poeple in our nation it doesn't make the ideals behind them right. Polls in the early 60's probably showed the same kind of numbers in many states. Did it make those ideals right?

Hold on to your religious beliefs if you want but allowing gays to marry doesn't also mean you then in turn are accepting homosexuality. God won't be mad at you or America. I promise.

Because NC has a large rural, conservative population who vote on these types of issues. Younger populations in the liberal cities are less likely to vote in great number, and are outnumbered anyway by Conservatives.

96% of Americans opposed interracial marriage in 50s too. All that proves is America is full of conservative idiots.

Sigh.

Civil rights (in other words, whether people should be afforded equality under the law, and not discriminated or excluded based on immutable characteristics) should not be subject to popular vote.

The only ones who think civil rights SHOULD BE subject to vote are people who want the ability to discriminate. In other words, the bigots, the crybabies, the prejudiced and those who are not fit to live in a free society.
