To somehow say America isn't declining solely because of export numbers is ridiculous, inaccurate and foolish, not to mention, ignoring about 1,000 elephants in the room.
I did not say that America's decline was solely because of export numbers.
I did mention a foundational reason. You can not build where there is no foundation.
It's amazing how closely our media is resembling the former Soviet Union's.
"Don't worry guys, we are only $16 trillion in debt and the unemployment rate, which we fudge, just dropped from 8.2% to 8.1%. Hope, change, and prosperity!"
Very true. History repeats itself, just as the Scriptures say.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
We are bombarded with Socialistic ideology ever day in our purported "democracy". It's the same thing packaged in a different way.
I think once we get the idea through to young people's heads that working for a living can be more than sitting in a burlap covered box typing on a computer all day. There is honor in physical work, you sweat and you accomplish something you can be proud of at the end of the day. You take pride in being the best at your job.
So many of these right wing idiots on this forum have never done a physical day's work in their life. We have to continue this Democratic revolution in workers rights and delete the Reaganomics "trickle down" crap from our history books.
I am one of the right wing idiots that have done physical work for over 60 years. But I have taught students for amost half that time, doing both at the same time. Once you get over your inflated idea of right/left wing, you might gain some creditable expierience.IMO
The Myth of America’s Decline Is Just That – A Myth: Dan Gross
In an interview with The Daily Ticker's Aaron Task, Gross describes how the U.S. has transformed itself into one of the world's largest export-driven economies. Since hitting bottom in 2009, U.S. exports have grown 45 percent on a monthly basis, Gross says. The hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs that were shipped overseas severely blunted the manufacturing sector, yet a turnaround for the industry and American workers looks promising. The Institute for Supply Management reported that its index of U.S. manufacturing activity rose to 54.8 in April, the highest level since June 2011, as new orders, production and employment increased. Readings above 50 indicate expansion.
I listened to Gross in an NPR radio interview. He was impressive in his presentation, and convincing. A forward-looking person. No doomsday for him.
